He knows he can’t drive for shit but he also doubts I’m much better. To his credit, he’s right. However if I’ve got all afternoon with a turbo S I think I can get there at least once.
40% he’ll take the bet. Fingers crossed.

If you have any track experience, this shouldn’t be difficult...

Edit: I’m getting my Oppos confused.

I’ve done 2:02 in a 911 Carrera 4 which is neither S nor turbo. That’s at 300 HP.
580HP is in the 911 S Turbo’s trunk. Gimme.
If I lose I’ll have thrashed it with everything I’ve got.

If you can take a couple HPD classes high/mid 40's should come very easily. A friend I used to race gokarts with reached 1.49 in a NB Spec Miata there on his first and only day around the track. So with a freaking Turbo S, reaching similar times without too much experience shouldn’t be too hard :)

If I could do a 1:54 in a lightly modified Mk4 GTI VR6, this should be a piece of cake.

Track record for a 911 Turbo S is 1:40.11.
Do it.

Agreed. However, the owner of the car can’t beat that time. He’s terrified of turning off traction control. He’s a passenger in his own car.
I’m more trying to make the point of “let me drive the thing if you won’t.”

Randy Pobst did 1min35 in a 991 Turbo S... and since he is talking about a 580hp car, it is a 991 turbo S...
